VALE DO LOBO The Royal and Ocean golf courses at Vale do Lobo provide 36 holes of challenging golf. The two courses were designed by the late golfing legend, Sir Henry Cotton, and redeveloped by American architect, Rocky Roquemore. On the Royal course you can find the most photographed hole in Europe, the 16th par 3, which requires a carry over the cliffs. Both take players through the pine and fig tree lined fairways down to the cliff edge alongside the beach. This combination of links and inland golf provides a challenging game for golfers of all standards. The golf course has recently been used for the Portuguese Open and on a more sociable level sports and media personalities can often be seen enjoying the course. The South Course Sheltered by the many communities at La Manga Club the South Course has been designed by Arnold Palmer who won the La Manga Spanish Open in 1975 and is more challenging than the North Course due to its extra length. Dotted with sand bunkers and water hazards the course will challenge any enthusiastic golfer no matter what standard a handicap certificate is required to play the South Course. The West Course With stunning views and lush scenery the West Course offers a different challenge to the North and South Courses. The front nine holes offer a contrasting game to the more open back nine and the occasional blind shot is required. Par 47 - For those who dont take their golf too seriously this 18 hole pitch and putt course offers delightful chips over water and is ideally suited to family groups and children.
