GOLF COURSES ALCAIDESA. Par 72 links golf club which opened in 1992. It is the first links course in the country. Located to the west of San Roque. Recently undergone an extensive programme of remodelling, fairways have been improved and widened. HOW TO GO: National trunk road CN-340 Malaga - Cadiz, exit 124 and follow the signs for Alcaidesa. ALMENARA. Par 72, an 18 hole golf course set in the upper part of Sotogrande 500 metres from Valderama golf club. Surrounded by cork oak trees and wild pines and several streams aswell as a natural lake. ALHAURÍN. Par 72 can be found in Alhaurin El Grande just behind the Mijas mountain range, particularly attractive because of its bright green fairways and natural dark green vegetation. Its main charateristic is its hilly design as it is largely adapted to the natural form of its surroundings. ATALAYA. Par 72 opened in 1968. Sitauted between Marbella and Estepona, suitable for all levels of play from total beginners to international pro´s due to the diversity of its tees. 2 courses. HOW TO GO: highway N-340, at 13km from San Pedro Alcantara, exit to Benhavis and then after the roundabout the second street to your left. ESTEPONA. Par 72 located 2 kms past Estepona, a wild and wooly course was the brainchild of David Leader and designed by Jose Luis Lopez, it is a welcome change with the perfect opportunity to enjoy the countryside, freshair and abundant wildlife with minimal interference from building development and traffic jams. GREENLIFE GOLF. 9 hole par 3 designed to ensure that it is equally suited to beginners as well as experienced players. Superb quality which runs between a pretty artificial lake and varied landscape. The best driving range on the Costa del Sol. HOW TO GO: N340 and take the turn off for Elviria. LA DUQUESA. Par 72, offers an interesting and varied game due to its long fairways and has two clearly different parts. First 9 holes are English style, narrow fairways and high greens, 2nd 9 are easier with wide fairways although the green will still supply additional difficulties. HOW TO GO: Located at km.134 on the N.340. From Malaga at 89kms. Aprox. Sabinillas - Manilva. LA QUINTA. Par 71, situated in the golf valley, fantastic views of the mountains and Marbella coastline. Consists of three combinable courses, although apparently easy, it is in fact very demanding due to the design of the fairways and the excellent quality of the greens. HOW TO GO: Motorway Costa del Sol, exit San Pedro de Alcantara. LAS BRISAS. Par 72 designed by Robert Trent Jones. Long drives alone will not be sufficient but intelligence in play is a must aswell. No less than 10 artificial lakes and ample bunker protection around mainly elevated greens. HOW TO GO: 67km from Málaga airport, between San Pedro de Alcantara and Marbella, km174. LAURO. Par 72, situated in the precious landscape of Alhaurin de la Torre, at 300 mts above sea level, spectacular views of the valley of Malaga and the Mediterranean. HOW TO GO: from Malaga: past airport, take the road C-344/a-366 direction Churriana, 5 kms from Alhaurin de la Torre. LOS ARQUEROS. Par 72 prides itself on being the Costa del Sols first Seve Ballesteros design. Los Arqueros is a challenge for golfers with low and high handicaps. Magnificent view over the Andalusian hills and the Mediterranean. HOW TO GO: At San Pedro de Alcantara, west of Puerto Banus, road to Rhonda, at about 5 kms. MIJAS. 2 courses, par 71 and par 72, Los Lagos is a mainly flat course with wide fairways and fast small greens, suitable for the more demanding players. MONTE MAYOR. Par 70 located in the hills beyond Marbella, at one with nature, a golf course that offers a challenge but well worth a visit. HOW TO GO: via Cancelada, leave the N340 for Cancelada, km 165, after Campsa Repsol Station through the village follow the signs for Monte Mayor. When you leave the village keep driving towards the mountains (8km) past the Marbella Club golf resort and onto Monte Mayor. SANTA MARIA. Par 70 designed by Antonio Garcia Garrido, the course traces the contours of the valley and offers views over the mediterranean. The par 3, 6th hole is very challenging and is located on the highest point of the course. HOW TO GO: 340, in front of Don Carlos Hotel, near Elviria. TORREQUEBRADA.
